Comparison between Conventional Treatment Processes and Advanced Oxidation Processes in Treating Slaughterhouse Wastewater: A Review

چکیده
The blooming of the world’s human population and transition diet into a more westernized, high-protein has accelerated production slaughterhouse wastewater (SWW) as number meat processing plants (MPP) increased in past few decades. Conventional treatment processes (CTP) used treating SWW, such anaerobic processes, membrane electrocoagulation, have significant limitations, low efficiency, tendency to foul, high energy consumption, respectively. While advanced oxidation (AOPs) appear promising replacing former, they lack economic feasibility when single process. In this paper, limitations disadvantages CTPs SWW influents are evaluated. idea utilising AOPs “complementary” step rather than process is also discussed. review paper further explores variability different AOPs, Fenton, Electro-Fenton, Sono-Fenton, etc., their respective strengths weaknesses counteracting CTPs. incorporating resource recovery discussed towards end means generating additional revenue for industry players compensate operation maintenance costs treatment. integration new-generation AOP CTP while being able carry out future hurdle that must be overcome by scientists order produce versatile, powerful, sustainable, yet financially feasible operationally pragmatic system.

15 صفحه اولKinetic and Thermodynamic Studies on the Reactivity of Hydroxyl Radicals in Wastewater Treatment by Advanced Oxidation Processes
The removal of dyes from wastewater, is one of the major environmental concerns due to their high color density, and they are toxic at even low concentrations. Adsorption process by advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) has been found to be a more effective method than classical methods for treating dye-containing wastewater. This research, is to investigate the decolorization abilities of az...
متن کاملWastewater Treatment by Combination of Advanced Oxidation Processes and Conventional Biological Systems
One of the most challenging issues of the last decades is the presence of recalcitrant compounds in the effluents of wastewater treatment plants, due to their toxicity on both human health and environment. Although conventional biological processes are usually efficient for the degradation of pollutants occurring in wastewaters, most of these compounds are not effectively removed. In this conte...
متن کاملUSE OF SELECTED ADVANCED OXIDATION PROCESSES (AOPs) FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT – A MINI REVIEW
Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are widely used for the removal of recalcitrant organic constituents from industrial and municipal wastewater. The aim of this study was to review the use of titanium dioxide/UV light process, hydrogen peroxide/UV light process and Fenton’s reactions in wastewater treatment. The main reactions and the operating parameters (initial concentration of the target ...

The treatment of distillery effluent was investigated experimentally by various advanced oxidation processes such as Fenton and ozone with different combination of UV and H2O2 system. The effect of operating parameters such as hydrogen peroxide concentration, initial effluent pH and Fe concentration on Fenton system for the percentage color and chemical oxygen demand removal has been studied. T...
